Starting September 1, mathematicians from low- and middle-income nations may apply for  travel support to the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) 2026, 2026, to be held in Philadelphia on July 23-30, 2026.

“This is a unique opportunity for geographically diverse mathematical communities to meet, interact, and exchange ideas in the world's largest mathematical celebration,” according to the ICM.

With funding from the Simons Foundation, the International Mathematical Union's Commission for Developing Countries (CDC) is collaborating with the meeting's organizing committee and the American Mathematical Society (AMS) to offer ICM travel support to applicants who live and work or study in one of the countries the commission has classified as "developing or less affluent," listed here alphabetically.

Applications will be divided into regional groups and into seniority levels. Mathematicians may apply under the category of early-career (those who have completed or expect to complete their PhD between July 2018 and June 2028) or mid-/late-career (those who have completed their PhD before July 2018). Applicants will be notified of their application status by March 31, 2025.

All PhD mathematicians and PhD student mathematicians in low- and middle-income nations should consider this opportunity, said Sarah Klyberg, manager, AMS Programs. “Some already may have plans to attend ICM 2026, but others may think that it is out of reach due to cost, and we want them to rethink that.”

Applications, in English, are due by November 20, 2024, 11:59 p.m. EST. Travel support recipients will be expected to arrive in Philadelphia on July 21, 2026, and depart on July 31, 2026.

Due to numerous requests and to ensure that all interested institutions have ample time to prepare their proposals, we have decided to extend the application deadline.

Hội đồng giáo sư Ngành Toán năm 2024 dự kiến họp trong 3 ngày, từ thứ 6 (4/10) đến chủ nhật (6/10) tại Viện Nghiên cứu cao cấp về Toán. Dự kiến vòng phỏng vấn ứng viên bắt đầu vào ngày 5/10. Như mọi năm, Hội đồng sẽ ưu tiên thẩm định hồ sơ của các ứng viên xa Hà Nội trước và thông báo kịp thời trong ngày 4/10, để nếu ứng viên nào không được mời phỏng vấn thì không mất công ra Hà Nội. Mặt khác, tuy được báo sớm, nhưng ứng viên nơi xa sẽ được sắp xếp phỏng vấn vào đợt cuối, nên vẫn đủ thời gian kịp ra dự phỏng vấn.

Nhân dịp đầu xuân Giáp Thìn, ngày 3/3/2024, Hội Toán học Việt Nam đã tổ chức họp mặt kết hợp Du Xuân tham quan đền thờ Chu Văn An - chùa Côn Sơn - đền Kiếp Bạc với sự tham gia của gần 80 hội viên đang công tác ở khu vực Hà Nội và lân cận. Trong buổi họp mặt, Hội THVN đã tổ chức trao bằng khen của Chủ tịch Hội cho một số cá nhân và tập thể có thành tích xuất sắc trong công tác của Hội và công tác tổ chức Đại hội Toán học toàn quốc 8/2023. Hội cũng đã trao giải thưởng Lê Văn Thiêm năm 2023 cho một số học sinh giỏi Toán bậc THPT và giáo viên có thành tích xuất sắc trong công tác bồi dưỡng học sinh giỏi.
